What Is Exactly Scrum Framework?
Nowadays, most companies especially those run on digital industry use scrum frameworks to maintain projects or operational products. As described in the Scrum Guide Scrum is a framework within which people can address complex adaptive problems. ChatAja has been using Scrum as a tool to collaborate and maintain the product since the beginning the team was created.
Scrum makes product development easier and more transparent. We used scrum for both technical and business teams. On the technical team, developers as a dev team, they can examine task using a product backlog that defined by user stories and user acceptance. The sprint planning held on when scrum team decided to start the sprint or development within a certain timebox. Timebox means the duration of the sprint, it can take a week, two weeks or the last duration is a month. Each backlog will be inserted into sprint backlog during the sprint planning. During the sprint, scrum team held daily scrum every day with the exact time that already scheduled and agreed by the member of dev team. Scrum Master and Product Owner are unnecessary to join the Daily Scrum, but they can join if they want. After the sprint timebox is over, will be held Sprint review to collect all backlog that listed which backlog that can become an Increment, otherwise backlog will continue in the next sprint. After the sprint review done, then sprint retrospective will be held. The purpose of the retrospective is to gather information between team issues. For example, lack of communication or some backlog that uncompleted that detailed for a user story. When Sprint Review and Retrospective were done, the Scrum team can continue to define each backlog for the next sprint in Sprint Planning.
In ChatAja, both technical and business teams are using Scrum from the beginning. The benefits of taking this methodology are plentiful. Stakeholders agree that scrum makes the team more productive and efficient. Nevertheless, the business team using Scrum has several disadvantages. Most product owners avoid task/backlog during the sprint, they tend to make the sprint finish then go for another one. For business, the tasks/backlogs are volatile, and sometimes it needs to finish on the current day. On tackling these issues, the business team combine Scrum and Kanban or can be called as ScrumBan. Kanban is a strategy for optimizing flow and it’s more simple than scrum on maintaining the process. ScrumBan in ChatAja has daily scrum, review, and planning. The difference between ScrumBan and Scrum is backlog are dynamics, means we set the backlog while on planning is open to editable or customizable during the sprint, and the development team agrees that will be a task/backlog during the sprint that may have to complete on the same day.
In conclusion, scrum helps companies run efficiently and productively. It has more advantages rather than disadvantages. Scrum can be implemented on various backgrounds, such as technical, business, and design. Although scrum has disadvantages, Scrum can be mixed using Kanban to make it more agile. A scrum is a powerful tool and methodology that can be used in many industries, I would recommend use this tool even some companies have already use another project management tool .
